"Industrial Combustion Testing" Book Arrived Today

As long-time fans of Bergmans Mechtronics LLC (BML) will recall, during the first few years of the company I collaborated with Tom Jenkins of MetroLaser, Inc to develop and test the LTS-100 Laser Temperature Sensor, a laser-based instrument for non-instrusive measurement of the temperature of hot gases (eg up to 4000 deg F).

In late 2007, we accepted an invitation from Charles Baukal of John Zink Co to contribute a chapter on Diode Laser Temperature Measurements for a book entitled "Industrial Combustion Testing".  Tom wrote sections for the chapter on the theoretical basis for and the history of the technology.  I wrote a section for the chapter on current and recent industrial systems which examined the LTS-100 and systems by Air Liquide, the University of Heidelberg and Zolo Technologies.

The book finally went to press in the last month or so and I'm pleased to announce that today I received my personal copy of this big 759 page book (see pics below).

Although further LTS-100 development has been put on an extended (permanent?) hold, this book chapter is a very satisfying way to commemorate this part of the on-going story of BML.

If anyone wants a hardcopy of the book, it's available on Amazon.
